Shot blasting and rust removal process

Shot blasting treatment uses the centrifugal force of the impeller on the throwing head of the shot blasting machine when it rotates at high speed to shoot the shot material at the surface of the treated steel at a high linear speed, resulting in percussion and grinding effects, removing the oxide skin and rust on the surface of the steel, and producing a certain roughness.The efficiency of shot blasting is very high and can be carried out in a sealed environment.


Shot blasting and rust removal grade;


(1) Mild shot blasting and rust removal.There should be no visible grease or dirt on the surface of the steel, and there should be no attachments such as oxide skin, rust and paint coating that are not firmly attached.; 


(2) Thorough shot blasting and rust removal.There should be no visible grease or dirt on the surface of the steel, and there should be no attachments such as oxide skin, rust and paint coating that are not firmly attached.; 


(3) Very thorough shot blasting and rust removal.There should be no visible grease or dirt, oxide skin, rust, paint coating and other attachments on the surface of the steel, and any remaining traces should only be dots or strips of slight pigmentation.; 


(4) Shot blasting and rust removal to make the steel surface clean.The surface of the steel should be free of visible grease or dirt, oxide skin, rust and paint coating and other attachments, showing a uniform metallic luster;


Preparation for the early stage of shot blasting


(1) Determine whether the workpiece can be shot blasting according to the overall size of the workpiece, or whether it can be shot blasting after decomposition.;


(2) Adjust the ejection angle of the shot blasting machine according to the structure and height of the workpiece;


    (3) Rotate the positioning sleeve counterclockwise, the ejection angle is upward; rotate the positioning sleeve clockwise, the ejection angle is downward; 


(4) The determination of the ejection angle is subject to the traces of the first workpiece shot blasting test.; 


(5) Keep abreast of the stock of steel pills at any time. The stock of steel pills should not be less than 2000Kg. If it is less than this number, the pills should be added in time.;


(6) The ejection medium should be mixed with steel pellets and steel wire cutting pellets, the ratio is 3:7; 


(7) Before work, it should be turned on and run without load for 3 minutes, and check whether the operation of each component is normal before it can be turned on.;


Shot blasting 


(1) Start-up procedures: dust collector-bucket elevator-horizontal screw conveyor-vertical screw conveyor-shot blasting device-conveying roller-pill feeder-pill cleaning fan; 


(2) The shutdown procedure is the opposite of the boot procedure;


(3) Determine the conveying speed according to the rust removal level     


Observe the degree of rust removal. If it does not reach the specified level, perform a secondary ejection. If it still does not reach the specified level, you can consider using new steel pills to remove rust.; 


Observe whether the workpiece is lost after shot blasting, and if so, stop immediately to find it.Before it is found, it must not be turned on; the workpiece parking site is strictly prohibited in the open air, and the air humidity should not be greater than 80%;  


If there is a discrepancy with the production plan or drawings, the relevant technical personnel should be consulted immediately to deal with it.;  


In the process of shot blasting, if an unavoidable quality factor is found, work should be stopped immediately and relevant personnel should be found to deal with it.
